A pleasant surprise

A blend of the main varieties of reds at Sumarroca -merlot, Tempranillo and Syrah, for a fresh and harmonious rose always prepared with products from our own vineyards.


The wine comes from two own estates. The tempranillo is the Molí Coloma estate, next to the winery. The soil of the vineyard has a large concentration of pebbles, which gives a freshness and unique personality. The syrah and merlot and come from the Sumarroca estate, a chalky ground with some presence of gravels and very poor in organic matter.


The 2016 vintage has the main characteristic and determining fact of being the driest in history with 55% less rainfall than usual. This factor, along with the slightly accumulated drought of the previous year caused the grapevines to react intelligently and naturally adapt to expectations. Thus deciding not to grow the seeds of the grapes to ensure that they ripen impeccably. As for the temperatures, autumn and winter were extremely warm with an average temperature of two degrees higher than normal. The rest of the year, temperatures were slightly above average around 1 ° C and without radically elevated records. In August, the minimum temperatures dropped and helped correct the maturation of the small seeds.


Complex aromas with hints of strawberry and raspberry, with a background of violet flower. It highlights the velvety soft palate with fruity notes that are held throughout the taste and aftertaste. Finish taste of red fruit.


Vinification done separately depending on the variety. The duration of maceration is different depending on the variety: for tempranillo it is 10 hours; for merlot, 4, and for the syrah, 2. 24 hours static racking and fermentation at controlled temperature of 16 ° C.
