Bodegas Sumarroca Receives Best in Class Award for Sumarroca Brut Rosé 2021 at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships 2024
Bodegas Sumarroca has been honored with the prestigious Best in Class award at the 2024 Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships (CSWWC) for its Sumarroca Brut Rosé 2021 cava, reaffirming its position among the most outstanding wineries on the international scene.
This new award follows the success achieved in September when the competition had already granted Bodegas Sumarroca two gold medals: one for Sumarroca Gran Reserva Brut Nature 2020 and another for the same Sumarroca Brut Reserva Rosé 2021. These recognitions underscore the winery’s commitment to quality and innovation, further establishing its international reputation.
The Best in Class award ceremony was held on October 24 at the historic Merchant Taylors Hall in London, where Marc Picón, export director of Bodegas Sumarroca, received the award on behalf of the winery.
About the Best in Class Award
This award is granted exclusively to cavas that have earned a gold medal during the annual competition, competing among themselves to determine the best in each class, and later advancing to compete for Trophies by Style. The competition organizers automatically classify cavas into the most suitable categories, ensuring a fair and accurate evaluation process.
For each gold medal category, two additional blind tastings are conducted. The best in each tasting is awarded the Best in Class title, and after a final tasting between the two, the cava that will advance to the Style Trophies is determined. Wines are judged anonymously using codes to ensure impartial results throughout the process.
This recognition, together with the gold medals obtained in September, positions Bodegas Sumarroca as a benchmark in the cava sector and strengthens its commitment to excellence.

Tasting notes: Medium-intensity pink color. Sparkling wine with high intensity, featuring elegant red fruit notes of strawberries combined with floral hints. On the palate, it is fruity and creamy, with a delicate finish.
