Characteristics of the vineyard
Is made of 100% Xarel.lo vermell grapes from Santa Creu section of our Sumarroca Estate near Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. The soil has a certain depth which allows to have a water source for the plant during the drought and summer heat months. It is a calcareous and extremely poor soil in organic matter.
Orange yellow color from the red skin of the variety. On the nose is intense and refreshing with fruity notes as apricot, peach and apple. It has a certain robustness and aromatic rusticity characteristic of the xarel.lo vermell. On the mouth it is wide, fruity and with a long and refreshing finish.
The elaboration of this wine is done with a minimum intervention. The grapes are harvested by hand and are divided into 2 batches to follow two processing methods. In the first one, the traditional method of pressing and fermenting in stainless steel at a controlled temperature is followed, always with wild yeasts from the vineyard. The second method is a route where the raquis is removed and the must is fermented with its skins for 4 days at controlled temperature, also with its wild yeasts. Once the fermentation is finished the wine is left for rest and clean for 3 months before bottling it. This minimal intervention causes the wine to present natural sediments.
