Last Friday, October 8th, in the Auditorium of Vilafranca del Penedès, the Winery Awards Gala 2021 was held, convened by INCAVI (The Catalan Institute of Wine and Vineyards) and organized by VADEVI.cat.

The objectives of this event are based on the promotion of quality wines in Catalonia and their dissemination to consumers in the country. In this edition, 850 references from the Catalan territory have been presented and tasted by a group of professional tasters.

In this edition, Sumarroca has obtained 2 Golden Wines:

– Best sparkling wine between 18 and 30 months of aging: Reserva Brut Orgànic 2018

– Best sparkling wine between 30 and 60 months of aging: Gran Reserva Brut Nature 2017

The two sparkling Sumarroca are part of the DO Cava.

Tasting notes: Reserva Brut Organic 2018

Pale yellow colour. Fresh aroma where the fruit notes from the base wine mix with notes of pastry from the aging of two years. The palate is fresh and fruity with fine bubbles and pleasant which integrates perfectly to the structure of cava.

Tasting notes: Gran Reserva Brut Nature 2017

Color amarillo pálido. Aroma fresco o de gran complejidad en el que se mezclan, en primer lugar, las notas de repostería, debidas a la crianza de 36 meses del cava, con unas notas ligeras de fruta fresca procedentes del vino base. La boca es fresca, suave y con una burbuja muy fina que se integra perfectamente en la complejidad del cava. Final elegante, serio, largo y seco donde se expresa toda la franqueza del cava.
